When I try to launch a lesson or click on a registration link, nothing happens.

Be sure your browser's popup blocker is turned off for our site. All lessons and many resources launch in popup windows. There are no popup advertisements to worry about on our site. If you continue to have problems, be sure to contact us for assistance.

Note: custom toolbars, such as the Google toolbar or Yahoo toolbar, can also block pop-ups. If you have a custom toolbar installed, be sure you disable their pop-up blockers as well as your browser's popup-blocker.

If you're not sure how to disable your browser's popup blockers, follow these simple steps:

For Internet Explorer
  • Select 'Tools' from the menu, then 'Pop-up Blocker'

  • Select 'Pop-up Blocker Settings'

  • A window will open which will allow you to add sites for which your popup can be turned off. In the text box, "Address of Web site to allow:" type "http://www.aamhomeschool.org" and press the "Add" Button

  • Click the 'close' button. Now, your popup blocker will allow popups from our site.
For Firefox
  • Select 'Tools' from the menu, then 'Options'

  • Select 'Web Features' from the left-hand menu

  • You will see an option for 'Block Popup Windows.' You can either de-select its checkbox to disable the popup blocker globally, or you can select certain sites to allow popups

  • To disable your popup blocker for our site, specifically, click the 'Allowed sites' button

  • In the 'Allowed Sites' popup, type in our web address, http://www.aamhomeschool.org, then click the 'Allow' button, then select 'ok.'

I'm having problems opening your newsletter, ed-u-bits and other files on your site. How do I fix this?

Newsletters, Ed-U-Bits and other resources are in what is called a "pdf" format. To open these files, you need the Adobe Acrobat Reader. The Reader is free and secure.

If you have the Adobe Acrobat Reader, but still cannot open these resources on your browser, the easiest way to fix this problem is to have these pdf files, such as newsletters, open up directly in the Reader, rather than in your browser.

To do this, first determine which version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader you're using. Open your reader, select Help -> About Adobe Acrobat. You will then see a popup window which will tell you which version of the Reader you are using.

Depending on which version of the Reader you are using, use the following steps:
  • If you have Adobe Reader 6.0, go to Edit -> Preferences. In the left-hand menu, select 'Internet.' You will then see an option for "Display PDF in browser." De-select the checkbox next to this option, click OK, then exit the reader. PDF's should now open directly in the reader, rather than in the browser.

  • If you have Adobe Reader 5.0, go to Edit -> Preferences. In the left-hand menu, select 'Options.' You will then see an option for "Display PDF in browser." De-select the checkbox next to this option, click OK, then exit the reader. PDF's should now open directly in the reader, rather than in the browser.

  • If you have Adobe Reader 4.0, got to File -> Preferences -> General. Towards the bottom of the popup window, you'll see an option for "Web Browser Integration." De-select the checkbox next to this option, click OK, then exit the reader. PDF's should now open directly in the reader, rather than in the browser.

How do I gain access to and use your system?

Here is the list of general steps you must take to register and use our system:

  • Visit our registration page and submit your information

  • Apply to be recognized as an Educator on our system

  • Once you have been approved as an Educator, log on to our system

  • At the bottom of your system screen, you can create classes

  • Once your classes are created, you can register students in those classes

  • Once classes are created and students are registered, you can select which lessons you'd like your students to take.

  • After your students have completed the lessons, you can download their pre and post-test scores to your gradebook, choosing from a variety of formats, including MS Excel

To download a step-by-step guide on how to accomplish these tasks, click here.

How do I, or my students, view your lessons?

There are two ways to view, or 'launch,' our lessons: On our Lessons page, you will be given two options. You can either browse our lesson catalog and launch lessons from there, or you can move immediately to a lesson launch page. The catalog is intended for your use, as the teacher, so that you might easily browse and select lessons.

When I click on the 'print' button in a tutorial, nothing happens.

Printing the tutorials requires, at least, the Flash 7 version of the Flash player. If you only wish to view the tutorials, the Flash 6 player will work just fine. Click here to download the free Flash 7 player.

How do I disable my popup blocker for your site?

  • Click the 'close' button. Now, your popup blocker will allow popups from our site.
For Firefox
